Providing Safe Care

Taking Care for Your Safety

Care In Everything We Do

In our phased approach to reopening facilities and resuming care services — including essential surgeries, primary care and other specialties and diagnostics — your health and safety remains our top priority. To better protect our patients, team members and communities from potential exposure to COVID-19, ThedaCare has implemented a number of safety measures, including procedural changes, increased testing and steps to make care more accessible.

What to Expect When Visiting ThedaCare

Mask Requirements

We require anyone who enters a ThedaCare facility to wear a mask. Masks will be provided to anyone who does not have one. Masks must be worn throughout the entire visit at ThedaCare.

At check in, all patients and visitors will have their temperatures taken and be asked questions related to COVID-19 symptoms. Based on the screening, patients will be directed to the right care areas quickly and isolated if necessary.

Visitor Restrictions

Visitor restrictions remain in place at all facilities. If necessary, one visitor or support person may accompany patients to their appointment. Learn more about current visitor restrictions.

Increased Testing

Per CDC priority recommendations and clinical indications, COVID-19 testing availability has been expanded to include:

  • All hospitalized patients with symptoms
  • All patients with moderately severe symptoms or those at increased risk for complications
  • Any Skilled Nursing Facility resident with symptoms
  • Any healthcare worker, ThedaCare team member or first responder with symptoms
  • OB patients prior to labor/c-section, whether or not they show symptoms
  • Patients undergoing high risk procedures or surgeries, whether or not they show symptoms
  • Patients who develop symptoms during hospitalization
  • Patients who will be discharged to a Skilled Nursing Facility, whether or not they show symptoms
  • Patients undergoing surgeries or other procedures, 96 hours prior to procedure or before prep is started (e.g., colonoscopy the day before the surgery)
  • All nursing home residents and staff

Particular facilities have been designated to isolate and provide care for COVID-19 patients, apart from other procedures and services.

High-touch surfaces throughout our buildings are being cleaned more frequently and thoroughly than even before.

Staff Safety

We continue to ensure the availability and proper use of PPE to protect patients and caregivers alike, while emphasizing the importance of social distancing among staff during off-hours, to reduce their risk of exposure.

Social Distancing & Signage

New facility signage outlines social distancing guidelines for safety. Facilities — including waiting rooms and registration — have been rearranged to ensure proper physical distancing between patients and staff at all times.

Improved Access

Online Care Options

We have increased virtual visit capacity and are encouraging patients to consider these options to get the care they need from the safety of their home.

Expedited Lab Work

To limit the amount of time patients need to spend in ThedaCare facilities, we are allowing those needing lab work to complete a quick blood draw at our clinics.

Expanded Scheduling

Central scheduling and registration are now open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

We have increased availability for eCheck-In through MyThedaCare to limit patients’ time spent at the registration desk in primary care clinics.
